    VSA Soccer 2023

Congratulations to VSA FC on a fantastic 2023 campaign in the MCSA United Food Express League (Southeast) division! Finishing 4th on the ladder with 37 points after 18 games is a remarkable

achievement. It’s clear that the team had a strong season, and there are several standout performances worth celebrating.

Muhammad El Sayegh’s 28 goals and 2nd golden boot ranking are truly impressive, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess. Additionally, it’s remarkable that both our top scorer and central defensive midfielder, Aden Hagi, earned 18 MVP points each, underlining the team’s well-rounded strength.

Sunny and Indi Singh, the playmakers, played pivotal roles in orchestrating the team’s success and relentless spirit. Coached by ex-player Justin Sandhu and tactician Sarab Hansra, it’s evident that VSA FC is a well-drilled and culturally rich team with players from Bhutan, Australia, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Lebanon and Somalia, making it a true melting pot of talent.

The support from headline sponsor Roti Bar (Ray and Julyn of Melbourne fame), the freemasons of Lodge Bharat, 1313 Finance (Mohan Sandhu), and Eco Transport Solutions (Bobby Gill) are vital in nurturing and growing the team’s success.

What’s even more heartwarming is the team’s commitment to community and new migrants, as highlighted by captain Taran Virk & the VSA is much more than a football team, it is a band of brothers that stick together, play to win, and help the community and new migrants.

VSA FC is more than just a football club; it’s a tight-knit family that values unity, success, and giving back to the community.

VSA FC’s upcoming 2024 season promises to be exciting, and it’s an excellent opportunity for fans and supporters to get involved and be part of the experience.

  • Hockey Champions @ Australia Sikh Games 2013!

Hockey Champions @ Australia Sikh Games 2013!

This has been a very successful Australian Sikh games for the VSA Hockey team. We had 2 teams in the Open Category and 1 in the Veterans. The 2nd team on the Open competition performed at their best. The only better outcome would have been to have our 2 team play off the in Finals and not the Semi Final as it turned out.

Congratulations to the VSA B team on a massive effort when all seemed lost. Their focus, commitment and believe in themselves as a team saw them beat a talented Brisbane team. It was wonderful to be part of and see the events unfold.

Congratulations to the VSA A team – ASG Champions 2013 (Back to Back Champions !!)

This team showed that they have the skills, mental strength and ability to motivation themselves to achieve success. The hockey finals were a replay of last years’ finals and the result was the same. Beating NZ, as many of us watched on, it  was just reward for the VSA A team who went through the competition with the best goal difference – scoring 16 and conceding 1. Fantastic effort and well done CHAMPIONS!

The Vets also held their own in the ASG. The Vets finished Runners Up after a heart breaking “sudden death” penalty shoot with Malaysia. It was wonderful to see many players come back and compete in this tournament. The Vets showed that competing and winning has been long in the VSA DNA.

The VSA  would like to acknowledge and congratulate the following individuals, who have worked tirelessly in making this a successful campaign for the VSA:

    • Hockey Management Team: Kamaljit Singh, Harbans Gill, Daljinder Singh and Sunny Bagri
    • VSA A: Kamaljit Singh (Manager), Satwinder Singh (Coach), Charanpreet Singh (Captains), Harsimran Singh (Vice Captain)
    • VSA B: Kamaljit Singh (Manager), Sarbir Singh (Coach), Ranjit Singh (Captain), Pankaj Singh (Vice Captain)
    • VSA Vets: Jab Bal (Captain), Sunny Bagri (Vice Captain)
    • ASG Hockey Coordinators: Jagtar Sidhu, Amarjit Sidhu, Jaswinder Sidhu, Gursharan Singh

The VSA hope the events at the ASG have given all team the passion of competeing  at the next ASG in WA in 2014. In the hockey team there has been whispers of the “Treble”. We have  have worked closely with the boys and one thing is for sure … the one thing these boys do well on the pitch – “They always express themselves, are never boring, and always for go for it!!”
